You left eBay and Amazon off the list. I have gotten into including eBay sales widgets and plugins into my blog flips lately and find that people really like it. I have not used any of these personally yet, but am sure they work as others in my network have mentioned using them before.

I am curious about Blog Networks from your list. I am vaguely familiar with Blog Networks, but it definitely piques my interest.

Thanks for the list.

I will definitely add it. If other people have had a little bit of success then I guess that is a good sign. Creating a blog network is definitely hard but it is possible. You usually does have to split the money you make from the blog with the writer that signs up. I have thought about doing it but it seems like a lot of work.

Aww.. there are just so many ways but I think private ad sales make the best one!

Private ad sales are definitely one of the better ones. I have found that affiliate ads have brought me the most money. I guess it is always easy to get people that come to my blog to buy something. Looking at my heat map, it looks as if it is mostly search engine traffic going to those affiliate sites.

My feed-reader says 21 ways to make money blogging, but you post says 19. :)

haha, well for some reason the lady that works for me accidentally put 21. She is new so I will give her a break on this one.

Pretty exhaustive list…my two cents, private ad sales are the way to go. They add the most value for both the advertiser and the publisher, in my opinion.

That is always one of the favorites of bloggers. Using affiliate links on your blog is definitely a route many people should look into. One sale could easily make you $30. Just a thought.

Hi Franklin, which methods have you had the most success with?

I’m selling other people’s products as an affiliate. It has really been working well for this blog. It is just nice because any traffic coming to your blog is possibly cash in your pocket.

Great list, but I think there’s a few you could add. I would add freelancing to that list, as well as domaining/siteflipping. Man, I’m really behind on these, I really need to start working down this list.

Mr Javo December 9, 2008 at 2:06 pm

Flipping blogs/domains is not related at all with blogging, but however it’s a good way to make money online…

O yeah and adding my two things, will make the total 21 ways, like it says in the url.

Reply

Franklin Bishop December 9, 2008 at 1:06 pm

haha, 21 ways sounds better anyways.

Nice list there. I have yet to choose a method to monetize my blog yet.

Any recommendation that will bring in money more passively?

Reply

Franklin Bishop December 9, 2008 at 1:06 pm

Passive income is always hard with a blog. The easiest way to get close to a passive income is by selling other people’s products so that you can always have a chance to make money when traffic is coming from search engines.

Ive found that creating your own e-book and selling your own ad space in-house has proved the most effective for me, but this helps point out some other ideas that are worth looking into.

Thanks

It’s always nice to know what works for different bloggers. I have noticed that there are like the books out there being sold by bloggers. Have you been able to create one yourself?

Reply

JWRmedia December 9, 2008 at 3:45 pm

Ive created several over the years. My first one was 22 pages which I gave away for free and had over 3,500 downloads in 3 months. After that, I wrote 4 more which I sold at $12 a copy and made about $2200 from them.

Currently, Im not selling or writing any more as I just opened a new blog yesterday, and as of right now we have 3 different writers, so Im focusing my attention on that.

Nice post buddy, but you see, I think it depends a lot on the niche you are in. Selling private ads is “easy” for MMO/Internet Marketing blog, but it is another story for a science blog for example. You really have to go out and grab advertisers.

I think all of the methods listed above can be very effective, it just depend what niche you are in!

Franklin Bishop December 21, 2008 at 4:51 pm

I agree with you. I think if you want some good money you always have to go out and get your advertisers.

What a list full of potential for any blogger! I already impliment a few of these and plan on expanding to a couple more over the coming months.

Reply

Franklin Bishop December 21, 2008 at 4:52 pm

I hope they all work for you. I guess if they don’t you can always go to another one.

Affiliate Sales work particularly well in my opinion. Particularly products from other bloggers that I trust and some stuff from commission-Junction. Just sayin’… (At least that’s been my experience).

Franklin Bishop December 21, 2008 at 4:53 pm

The best part is that you do not have you create the product yourself. You get to sell someone else’s product and make money.

Selling private ads has been the bread and butter of most bloggers and this proves to be one of the easiest ways to make money from blogging. CPA and PPC advertising have evolved as another easy way to make money.

CPA could be as easy as getting your readers to fill up a form which could get you $15 for it. Before I forget, writing reviews has been a popular way to make money from blogs too =)

Private ads are definitely the most popular. However, I believe most people can make more money off of affiliate links.

Great list! My favorite is number #3 – selling Wordpress blog themes. That is a great way to make money with your blog, because most bloggers who read your blog will want wordpress themes. You don’t need a very targeted audience.

Also liked some of your other ideas, I am going to try out paid advertising soon, but I guess I need a decent amount of traffic before it would be valuable.

Reply

Franklin Bishop December 21, 2008 at 4:59 pm

You should definitely start commenting on a lot of blogs if you want traffic. It should easily give you enough traffic to start paid advertising.

I am really not sure. I have not done it myself I have just seen many opportunities on forums like digital point.

Yes, posting comment is a good way also. I’ve seen some opportunity like this in some forums. But, is it under the “blogging” category?

Reply

Franklin Bishop December 21, 2008 at 4:55 pm

I also see these opportunities all over. If you find the right one you can make some good money.
