I really did enjoy your e-book. I have actually came along many bloggers who recommend reading your e-book and that is how I finally decided to download it.

Awesome idea for a list! I have only seen a couple of these already, namely John Chow and Yaro. At least judging from the titles there are a handful in there that immediately pique my interest.

I have a whole bunch more if you would ever want me to reveal those later. I don’t know though, I tried to recommend ones that didn’t go over the same information.

WOW! Now that’s an sweet list! Thanks so much for doing the leg work on this one. This is a complete blogging ebook list that could probably help the newbie to even the guru bloggers. I clicked and check out a few…is this whole list complete free ebooks?

Thanks!

The title says they are all free – so that is great. Although, if these people are smart then I am sure you have to sign up for a mailing list in order to actually read any of them. But that is a small price to pay for the work that went into making it. With all the free e-books floating around now, is there any space for paid e-books? Do you even read paid e-books? If so, which would you consider worth paying for?

Franklin, thanks for including my book on your list! I’m flattered to be among such excellent company. :)

No problem Michael. I definitely found your e-book as one of the more helpful ones across the web.

I know what you mean. There is way too much information out there than I did try to take the 24 e-books that I really found had the best information. Most of them are really quick reads though.

@ James – Paid ebooks often (I say often because it is not always) have better quality content. If you are really good at something then you should never do it for free. Paid eboks and programs will always have a place because if no one ever paid for anything then no one would ever make any money. Just my 2 cents

Reply

James September 24, 2008 at 9:54 pm

Makes sense (even 2 cents). I suppose the multiplicity of free offering in some way forces those who wish to put out paid e-books to produce better quality content. After all, I am not going to pay for something that I can equally get for free. Programs are an entirely different story, of course. I understand how, if you are promoting a program, giving a way a free ebook might help entice potential customers to sign up.

Hi Franklin…I am overwhelmed at this list. It is awesome. I give away reports frequently and sometimes its hard to gauge if people like them or not, that is until you meet one of them in a forum. Thanks for the info…

No problem. It is very difficult to gauge whether or not if people like them or not like you said. I think if you have readers you might want to just ask them if they like any of the reports you frequently give away.

Great list! I have already read a few of those ebooks and have definitely found them valuable sources of information in my blogging work. I’m always on the lookout for newer and better tips and it looks like there are a few more for me to check out! I will definitely be looking into some of those.

Yeah, I would give my ebooks away for free (if i had any).

It’s a great way to get traffic – people like free stuff.

Looks like a good list. I’ll have a look at them for sure.
thanks, Sean.

I am really enjoying some of the stuff on Michael’s Remarkablogger. His series on starting a business blog and the ebook you linked to here is comprehensive yet straight to the point. Best of all, it might prove useful sometime down the road. So much stuff here…time to explore something else!

James, thanks very much for the kind words! I highly recommend Yaro Starak’s Blog Profits Blueprint and Chris Garrett’s Killer Flagship Content book. Both are incredibly helpful.

No problem – they are well deserved. Thanks for the additional recommendations. I’ve got quite a bit of good stuffed squirreled away on my hard drive now :)

@Ryan McLean

Someone would have to be pretty good before i’d consider paying for their ebook. I don’t think it really indicates anything about the quality. It’s more about someone trying to exploit other people. same thing always happened on ebay – people were selling project gutenburg ebooks to people who are too stupid to know they are in the public domain and freely available.

James September 28, 2008 at 4:48 pm

Wow, I guess that really does not surprise me much about eBay. I just did a search on eBay for “e-book” and got 1,519 results. One such listing is offering 5 ‘make money fast’ e-books and the seller writes this near the bottom: “Notice to Ebay Staff: I am authorized to sell this product.” Yeah, okay! I wouldn’t be surprised if people took free e-books like the ones above and then tried to sell them on eBay, too.
I generally get a bad feeling when I find those mini-sites that consist of nothing more than a sales page from some anonymous person peddling an e-book. Sure, they sometimes include their name and maybe even picture – but really – that doesn’t necessarily tell me anything about this person. The advantage, then, of selling an e-book, if that’s what you want to do, through a blog is that you can establish your authority through your writing, connect with your readers, and gain their trust. Nothing seems slimy about it.

Well John Chow’s exploits in the business are quite legendary so his ebook is definitely something that is worth checking out. I checked out the link and he makes no bones about making money off the ebook by traffic building, so he is in fact offering this ebook for free. With everything that he has written about the industry over the years, I’d think that there are some valuable pointers to pick up here.

Chow’s was the first of any e-book on this topic that I downloaded. It is actually a very useful guide for anyone just starting out. At least in terms of setting up Wordpress and promoting/monetizing the blog. Although I think that the $27,000+ month that he makes is an unrealistic goal for most people with just these strategies.
