Chow’s was the first of any e-book on this topic that I downloaded. It is actually a very useful guide for anyone just starting out. At least in terms of setting up Wordpress and promoting/monetizing the blog. Although I think that the $27,000+ month that he makes is an unrealistic goal for most people with just these strategies.

Well John Chow’s exploits in the business are quite legendary so his ebook is definitely something that is worth checking out. I checked out the link and he makes no bones about making money off the ebook by traffic building, so he is in fact offering this ebook for free. With everything that he has written about the industry over the years, I’d think that there are some valuable pointers to pick up here. Wow, I guess that really does not surprise me much about eBay. I just did a search on eBay for “e-book” and got 1,519 results. One such listing is offering 5 ‘make money fast’ e-books and the seller writes this near the bottom: “Notice to Ebay Staff: I am authorized to sell this product.” Yeah, okay! I wouldn’t be surprised if people took free e-books like the ones above and then tried to sell them on eBay, too.
I generally get a bad feeling when I find those mini-sites that consist of nothing more than a sales page from some anonymous person peddling an e-book. Sure, they sometimes include their name and maybe even picture – but really – that doesn’t necessarily tell me anything about this person. The advantage, then, of selling an e-book, if that’s what you want to do, through a blog is that you can establish your authority through your writing, connect with your readers, and gain their trust. Nothing seems slimy about it.

Someone would have to be pretty good before i’d consider paying for their ebook. I don’t think it really indicates anything about the quality. It’s more about someone trying to exploit other people. same thing always happened on ebay – people were selling project gutenburg ebooks to people who are too stupid to know they are in the public domain and freely available.
