I suppose having your own domain makes your blog seem more professional or more important because you are no longer using a free hosting account that anyone can sign up for. But, of course, a lot more comes into play when creating that impression than simply a domain name. It is entirely possible to have a popular blog, say, hosted on blogger. For most personal blogs this is sufficient. However, if you are trying to make money or want to sell something, having your own domain will help you appear more legitimate. I don’t know if there are any SEO advantages to having your own domain, though.

This is very interesting. I didn’t realize that it was so important to have your own domain. I see very many bloggers not having their own domain and they seem to be doing fine. Doesn’t really help that much does that? Of course I am a newbie so don’t mind me asking questions.

Forum contribution is good advice - and probably often overlooked. A lot of people post in forums and if you are able to establish yourself in a few these people will be interested in your site. But you have to establish yourself and actually participate. A few flyby posts will not catch many people's attention. Jamess last blog post..How not to argue against evolution

Yes of course but when I go to a directory to list it like at http://www.blogcatalog.com/directory/personal they have other catagories to put it in and I am unsure where I belong in there.

WOW, thats really all I can say about this blog is WOW. Such a wealth of information I will surely be back to read more and more from it and LEARN!!!

I found this blog while visiting dailyblogtips dot com and I am glad I did.

I have been reading the tips and I am a very new blogger with some new questions.

I was wondering what kind of blog am I as I wonder what category to put myself in in blog directories.

I just wanted to kick a blog off to actually publish my everyday activities as I thought it may be of interest to my freinds, family, and newcomers.

See we are all so busy and freinds and family often wonder what I am upto these days, so I though hey I will start a blog and maybe they will keep up with me that way.

I started adding adsense ads in hopes that I can generate some income and that has been a flop. I might have made 32 cents in a month.

So anyways any tips would be apprieciated and someone please tell me what category I fall in with my blog.
