8 Comment Wordpress Plugins

by Franklin Bishop on December 18, 2008

If you are using a Wordpress blog then you are likely using one of these Wordpress comment plugins. I use most of these in some way on my blog. If not on this blog, then I use these Wordpress plugins on my other blogs. Your comment functionality is important especially if you’re trying to build a community on your blog.

The good thing is that Wordpress has plenty of plugins to have the best experience with all the different parts of commenting. It will make life easier for you and the people that read your blog.

Wordpress Comment Plugins

CommentLuv
This is likely the most popular comment plugin on the web. More and more people are deciding to use this because it allows other people to read the comment section to see your latest post. You can also choose older posts if you sign up over at Andy Bailey’s website.

cformsII – contact form
This is the most popular contact form for Wordpress. I added this in here just because it always says that you have received a new comment in your e-mail.

Akismet
This plugin will be good for getting rid of comment spam.

Subscribe to Comments
This tool will let people that comment to subscribe to your comments so that they are notified when another person has commented on that post. Just another way to bring people back to your blog.

Get Recent Comments
This will allow you to put the most recent comments in your sidebar.

AJAXed Wordpress
You need to download this if you are using other plugins from the same author.

WP Ajax Edit Comments
If you download this you will need to first download the plugin above. You can edit your comments if you use this plugin.

Wordpress Thread Comment
This will make it easier to reply to your readers and have your commenters follow conversations.

WP-Gravatar
If you are currently unable to put avatars by each person’s comment then this will do it for you.

Hopefully some of these Wordpress comment plugins can help you. They all do different things that can help you and your blog.

This is part of my Plugin series for Wordpress. I have already covered the following types of Wordpress plugins: statistics, SEO, Twitter, and RSS feed.

Thanks for the list Franklin.

I am not using WP 2.7, but I heard that the Threaded comments is included in it. Is that true? Are you hip to this?

I guess I will upgrade one of these days, but I hear people are having some bug issues, so I may just hold off for a while until the kinks are worked out.

I heard that it was included also. It is different then what I am currently using though. I like the one I have right now.
