Are You Obsessed with Blogging?

by Franklin Bishop on December 24, 2008

I have found myself pretty obsessed with the blogging world. When I started blogging five years ago I didn’t know a lot about blogging. Four years later I liked blogging but it wasn’t something that I absolutely loved. Once I sold my two other blogs and created this blog I absolutely became obsessed with everything that has to do with blogging.

I created this blog to help other people that are trying to create a successful blog. I had seen so many of the bloggers trying to help other people when they haven’t even had success themselves. So that is why I decided to create this blog. That is when I absolutely became obsessed with blogging.

I am one to admit that I have also learned a lot from reading so many blogs. You have to read what other people are having problems with and if you don’t know how to solve it then you figure it out. That is how I have learned even more than I already knew. Trust me, not one person knows everything there is about blogging, social media, Internet marketing, and SEO. Even though I have had one SEO expert tell me that I do not know the first thing about search engine optimization. Somehow I’m getting an average of 321 unique visitors from search engines every day.

I think being obsessed with blogging has really kept me driven. Being in the blogging niche is definitely not an easy thing and you always have points where you want to quit. Once I sold my other two blogs, I had to start over and this time it was much more difficult to get this blog going at a steady pace (way more competition). As I continued this blog, I began to see others start post less and some even sold their blogs.

I began to conclude that they were not obsessed with blogging. The only way they probably would have been obsessed is if they were having a huge amount of success or they were making thousands of dollars a month. But that is not truly being obsessed with blogging. It is definitely more than that.

You probably do some of the following things if you are obsessed with blogging:

  • You are not all about making money.
  • You do something that is blog related everyday.
  • You enjoy doing something blog related everyday.
  • You do not think about quitting at least once a week (I got this from a couple of people that are going through Blogging School).

That really is all there is to it. Being obsessed with blogging will bring you way more success than someone that is not. The people that enjoy it and ravish it will be more successful. It is always hard to be successful at something you’re not completely into. When the going gets tough and you are not seeing the cash come in, don’t give up. Blog because you love it not because you think it can make you money (It will never be a four-hour workweek).

So the question is, are you obsessed with blogging? If you are an RSS or email subscriber, then head over to the comments section and explain yourself.

Well I’ve only been at it seriously for a few weeks, but according to that little list I would be obsessed. I guess it is because I tried to do as much research as I could before I started, and now all of a sudden I have a dozen blogs about blogging in my RSS reader, and I can’t help but read about new things every day.. I don’t see this feeling ending either, because I’m thoroughly enjoying the experience.

I would say that I am obsessed with blogging. It has consumed my life so much that when I am out and about, I think about my camera and taking pictures of things to share with my Blog Family. It is pretty bad.

Money is not my main concern, but I would like to replace in offline business with an online one. I am working on that, but at the moment, FreddieTaylor.com isn’t concerned with making money. That site is more just to give me a blogging foundation. I just started blogging in August, have a lot to learn, and figured running my personal blog would be a great way to dive in with both feet.

I don’t know that I’m obsessed with blogging, but I do subscribe to close to 150 blogs, I have three of my own, and I comment on lots of blogs, more than just the ones I subscribe to. Okay, maybe that sounds like I’m obsessed, but I find it just the thing that I need to do to keep my sanity, learn things, and test things out. That, plus I guess I have this overall need to share my thoughts, no matter what they are.

I think I might be obsessed with blogging. I’ve had a couple blogs now and I decided that I’ve only made a shi*load of money off of one. I have a couple other online businesses so blogging is just something I like to do. It’s become a prt of me now :)

Oh yeh, I am obsessed with blogging. Like you, I started my first blog many years ago. Of course, it was more or less somewhat of an online journal to share with friends. And I have developed and managed many other blogs and websites along the way.

But lately, I have been blogging for a larger audience, and I think the reason that I like doing it is not because I make money — I don’t… I earned all of $4.70 last month via donations for my WP Plugin. lol. And unlike most bloggers, I don’t prominently display advertisements, which I why my blog doesn’t generate revenue — but it’s because I like connecting with other people in the industry, increasing website traffic, and learning all along the way. :-)

Perhaps at some point, I will fully monetize my blog.

Yes, I would say that I am obsessed with blogging. My wife often remarks that I need to spend less time on the computer, my favorite TV shows pass me by while I am commenting on blogs, and I am often noticing ordinary moments and topics that would make a blog post. It’s not always about making money, since I have been at this for over a year, and have 9 years to go. Long ago I decided this would be a 10 year endeavor. I hope to give plenty and receive some in return :)

I am so glad I am not alone :)
I have learned so much from you and many other bloggers. It helps me tremendously to frequent your blog and find out what you & your readers are thinking. Due to the holiday season and other blogs I have going on…I have neglected this blog. Lessons learned: commenting and do not spread yourself to thin. lol

Obsessed, I don’t think I would go that far, but I can definitely say that I love blogging. I know I am not obsessed as I went without a single post for five days whilst in Sydney and I didn’t visit an Internet Cafe once.

A reassuring post it has to be said. I thought you were going to make me feel bad for being so into blogging. I have been doing it for about four months now and have met all of the criteria on your list from day one. Still, I have gained quite a bit of success in this short period, something I wouldn’t have done had I not been so obsessed by blogging. I plan on staying obsessed until I meet my goals. It’s the only way I know how to do it. Thanks for the reassurance. Great blog also.
