Blog Tip: You’re an Idiot If You Don’t Comment, Yes That’s Right Idiot!

by Franklin Bishop on August 22, 2008

Ladies and gentlemen, I’m about to call you an idiot if you are not commenting on other blogs. So if you are not commenting on other blogs, then start doing it you idiot! I keep getting e-mails that people are just not seeing any traffic from commenting on a “couple of blogs”. Well hello! Commenting just on a couple of blogs will only bring you minimal traffic.

Remember my blog post about how I comment on 36 blogs. Well now I am commenting on 42 different blogs and for one reason, they are constantly bringing traffic to my blog! What, you think I like taking the time every day to comment on this many blogs. I always feel like there’s something better I could be doing, but if this is a way to bring traffic to my blog then I have to do it.

I’m not sure why people do not believe me or other bloggers. I see all these people that are trying to help other bloggers by trying to persuade them to comment! Trust me, I’m doing the exact same thing. So I decided to do my own little type of case study. It is nothing extreme by no means. All I did was decide not to comment on another blog for five straight days. This was Saturday through Wednesday.

It was really hard not to do this because I already knew that would hurt the traffic to my blog and not gain me more subscribers.

Here’s what happened:

I actually lost subscribers. Obviously I was gaining subscribers and more than how many I was losing.

I received less comments on my blog posts because I didn’t have the traffic from other blogs. Usually the people that come to your blog from your comments are ones that will probably comment on your own blog. This would make sense considering they were reading other peoples comments.

I received less traffic! Amazing, who would’ve thought I would lose traffic when I’m not commenting on other blogs. That was sarcastic if you did not catch on.

Obviously, you have to comment on other peoples blogs. It can’t just be a couple of blogs. You have got to get used to commenting on a bunch of blogs. It is like anything else, you can train yourself to get used to it and then it won’t be any problem. Otherwise, if you don’t do this it is simple; you are an idiot.

It is okay if you have been an idiot for a while. It took me a long time to actually to realize that commenting on other peoples blogs is still the number one way of getting the “right” people to your blog. I was an idiot too.

On increasing Traffic. Just currious, but nobody seems to mention Traffic exchanges. Granted they cost time, but many of the users are prime candidates for marketing opportunities as well as product. I have made some very good conversions by using specific splash pages. I have sold Marketing and electronics products with a fairly decent conversion rate. Granted you have to surf to earn trafic, unless you want to pay for it, but on most of the manual exchanges you can surf for an hour a day on four or five sites and realize a very decent return for your time.

Alright already! I’ll comment more. If you say it works, I believe you. I don’t know about 42, but I’ll try a dozen for now. Thanks for the tip.
