Blog Tips Niche Going Down

by Franklin Bishop on August 7, 2008

One thing you want to do when you’re creating your blog is to just pick one niche. One of the biggest niches for a while was the one where people help others blog and make money blogging. These are websites like Problogger, Dosh Dosh, Bloggeries, and more. However, if you look at their Alexa traffic then you will notice that most of these type of blogs are losing traffic. I have uploaded some pictures to show you what Alexa is showing for these types of blogs. Obviously, this niche is starting to get less and less popular. I am not really sure where bloggers are going to find help, but obviously these more popular blogs are not getting those people.

The one thing that I can think of that is happening is that there are just too many of these types of blogs out there anymore. Too many people are trying to write about the samething so everyone doesn’t have to go to these more popular blogs. The second thing that I can think of that is happening is that once all these blogs get a huge amount of subscribers, their content get worse. Even some of these blogs are having less and less posts a week. This is one thing as a blogger you don’t want to do. Keep the content coming so you give your subscribers and organic traffic what they’re looking for.

If any of you have any other reason why this might be happening then comment below.

ahhh… sorry but you are wrong here.. Alexa is a complete joke. I have way more traffic as 4 months ago (look at google trends for sites and compete.com) and you will see that about 4 months ago Alexa changed something and magically their sites like PayPal skyrocketed and other sites at the same time dropped. I know for a fact that each blog you mentioned is growing in traffic and do NOT rely on Alexa. There was a good post on this at http://www.dailyblogtips.com/alexa-is-becomeing-completely-worthless/ you can check out. I would be more then happy to share my stats with you if you like as well to prove it.

I think there have been considerably less blogging tips blogs, which is nice because there are just way too many. It’s a very competitive niche, whereas if you are to start a niche blog with little competition you can rank faster, get more traffic, and hopefully make $$ faster too!

So if they are losing so much traffic, than why did you decide to start up a blog about the same niche as them all. And do you really believe or rely on Alexa? If so, could you please explain why?

I agree with John Cow. Alexa has changed something and is not showing true results. Alexa give preference to readers who have the alexa toolbar and there are many other factors that do not count either. These blogs are growing and will continue to grow as blogging continues to become bigger and bigger. Once we see blogs become outdated and something new come in then we will see these sites losing traffic. Until then they will continue to grow

I think this is true. It seems like more and more that these type of web sites are not getting as much traffic. You do not see them getting much more subscribers anyways. Who knows though, they might actually be getting more.

I don’t know I think everything seems a little down right now. I mean looking at the US economy, and the last I check the US was the largest online buyers. I think everything is getting a little tighter, and not as much people are willing to buy or invest into making money online.

Just my two cents!
