Blogs.com is a new web site that is supposedly going to help the unknown blogs. I yet to be convinced that they really are what the web site says they are about:
“Blogs.com is a new service from blogging company Six Apart that helps you discover the best in blogs. You can quickly and easily find blogs by category and topic or read daily blog roundups of some of the best blog content around the Web. Top 10 Lists from celebrity bloggers and influencers also help you discover new blogs, and everyone is invited to create their own Top 10 lists to share with the community. Blogs.com also produces a free weekly email newsletter so you can get the best in blogs delivered to your inbox. To get the weekly Blogs.com newsletter, use the subscription form on the right.”
The other thing I don’t care too much about this web site is that it uses its editors to pick some of the top stories on blogs for the front page. Now if you are a digg user, then you’ll notice how much they actually just take right off of digg. The same thing was talked about on Mashable. I just feel like it’s just another one of those web sites that is a copycat. I just don’t understand why they don’t try to find different blog posts than the ones that are already on digg.
I think I’m going to try blogs.com out and report on it later so that you do not have to take all the time and energy of doing it yourself. I really only think this will bring minimal traffic, but you never know until you try. There are plenty of other web sites that will bring you way more traffic so put all of your time and energy into those.

I have just submitted my blog and let’s see how much traffic it will bring to my site.
Yan
One must submit to it – But yes you are right – People do know how to hit the front pages. Its a tactic not a good writting skill i guess
Any results from using Blogs.com? I think that you are right, though. It looks like just another way for the most popular blogs to get more exposure – and become more popular!
Well I think even with this site blogs that are un noticed will stay un noticed. You will still need to get your blog noticed and recognised for people to start putting you in their top 10.
This is an awesome domain name…I mean a domain name like blogs.com would go for thousands….but the site sounds a little average to me. Maybe I am just cynical
Doesn’t look like anything that I would be interested in. I did check it out but it is just not for me. It is time for a web site to help out the little bloggers so that we might have a chance to become popular.
Hmm, very interesting review. And I believe you were right on the money when you say you don’t like the idea of having editors. I mean look what dmoz.org turned into. Well, I would be interested in hearing a report on how it turned out for you.
Thanks again!
