I Am Now a Blogging Millionaire

by Franklin Bishop on August 17, 2008

I am happy to announce that I am now a blogging millionaire. I have made a lot of money off my blogs and I have added it up to be $1.14 million worth. How did I finally get over the million-dollar mark? Well, I finally sold my most subscribed blogs.

I ended up having 21,000 subscribers on the technology blog and 23,000 subscribers on my political blog. I was able to persuade someone to pay for both of them. They ended up paying around $200,000.

I was getting offers around $60,000-$70,000, but I continued to search until I could get over the hundred thousand dollars mark. I just so happened to come across a person that wanted the domains but since I had so many subscribers he decided that it was worth the price that I offered at $200,000.

So with that I’m proud to announce that I will be spending all my time on just this blog. Now I would like to make you a blogging millionaire. In the beginning I never even thought that I can make this much money. I was trying to just make a couple extra thousand dollars a year but in the end it has worked out so that I could work at home full-time.

I’m not sure we can call this blog much of an experiment anymore. I feel like I have been blogging for 20 years even though it has only been four. I’m thinking of renaming this blog. I kind of want everyones opinion as to what I should rename it. I didn’t know if I should just put Franklin Bishop and a tagline below it or should I put Franklin Bishop in little letters and then the main title in big letters? I like the idea of putting Franklin Bishop and my tagline as Blog Ramblings from a Blogging Millionaire. Let me know what you guys think.

Whatever you choose, I think you should include “blogging millionaire” somewhere in the title. That certainly caught my attention in this post.

That’s awesome. Congratulations.
The title of this post definitely stoked my interest in it. I like the current title but I agree that using the word “millionaire” in there somewhere might increase traffic.
However, I do think that being so direct about your income could be bit cheesey and might be inferred as arrogant.

@marc – I do not want to sound arrogant. I think it might get me more subscribers though.

James August 23, 2008 at 2:18 am

It all depends on the presentation. You can make it so that it does not sound arrogant if you try. Of course, there will always be some people who think it is arrogant no matter what, but these are the type of people whom you do not want as readers anyway.

I’ve only been blogging a few months but would love to reach that level of financial security one day in my life through blogging. The only problem is; I dont know what to write about in order to get people coming back.

I don’t know the first thing about writing. I’m just a mom with three kids (many mom blogs out there already) and a full time online student (not enough knowledge to work with that).

Do what interests you or something you have passion for.

I agree, and for that I have a sweepstake blog where I search and find giveaways on the net. I enter them and write about them when I can. I have seen many great giveaway sites and have yet to repeat it like theirs (which I wouldn’t want to), but I just don’t know all the in’s and out’s of working a blog. I’m trying and could honestly say that I’m happy with my results so far, but it can always be better. :)

Hey Franklin,

When your talking about renaming your blog. Are you talking about a completely new domain name or just the title up top on your blog?

Also, there is no possible way that you could secretly leave messages for us to figure out those two blogs that you have sold…I would be very interested!

Congratulations Franklin,

I am sure your success story will be an inspiration for many aspiring internet marketers, bloggers and web developers alike. Nice to know that you could get by life without working now and doing what you enjoy the most. If I were in your situation, I would try to create a bigger technology blog, where you could employ others to contribute, something that could rival TechCrunch perhaps? Just a daydream for me, because certainly you could afford to daydream a lot nowadays.

Anyway, regarding your questions, your name in big font and the tagline in smaller text seems fine to me now. You are certainly bigger than your blog. Hopefully you will really accomplish the task of grooming a few more blogging millionaires, that will be an interesting story to tell: Franklin Bishop, a blogging millionaire himself managed to turn some raw talents into new blogging millionaires!

I am hoping to help the lot of bloggers make the money they are looking for. I am currently creating a blogging school and it will be open on November 1, 2008. I know for sure that if you are a subscriber on my blog and you are actively commenting then you will get it for free instead of paying $97.

I’d try something like…

“A Self-Made Blogging Millionaire Exposes His Money Making Secrets”

or

“Self-Made Blogging Millionaire Shows How to Get Paid Online”

I think you should keep your blog focused…

Not sure if SEO, IM, blog topics, etc… is what you should have in the tag line. Too many things, get it more “niche” targeted!

When I see too many topics or random posts/ramblings on a blog, I try not to bookmark it (that’s how I read most blogs!)

I really like those ideas. I will have to think about it.

I believe a congratulations is in order. I have only been blogging for about one and a half years and i am only starting to get the hang of it. I bet you have loads and loads of knowledge about how to make money online and I look forward to continuing reading your blog. Within the next 2 years I plan to be a millionaire blogger

You are a pretty lucky guy. I think I just stay positive I will have a chance to be a blogging millionaire. If we can just have a blog over six months then our chances of making a lot of money are a lot better. I wish everyone else the best of luck.

Reply

James September 25, 2008 at 12:40 am

While Tiffany’s enthusiasm in and of itself is great, it also comes off as a bit naive. If all that it took was a blog, six months, and a positive attitude then just about every blogger would be a millionaire by now. I wish her luck, but a lot of hard work and a little bit of chance will more realistically get her to the point of making a lot of money.

Congratulations, that is quite an achievement indeed. I’m still a long way off, but I hope I get to that level someday. In any case, this post gives me hope, which is valuable in itself I guess!

Man thats amazing. Wish it were me. I too need to find a niche to hone in on and blog about it to get some ad revenue or something rolling in. Maybe I need to find a product to sell or come up with my own, not sure yet. I am new to all this. I am really excited about this blogging school I hear you speak of. Cant wait till Nov.

That’s pretty cool and I’m happy for you.
I have noticed that some NOT YOU bloggers
who either make a bunch of money or their
blog is popping for a while turn into complete jerks.
Don’t respond to emails, want stumbles and diggs and their ads clicked and don’t do a damn thing for anyone else,it’s sad.
Like you I think the more blogging benefits you and your life
the more a person should want to give back.
That is why I made http://bloganese.com and I’m not even on it
and I got a milliondollablog.com I’ll see you cheap you can
launch for the next million right there I don’t use that Blog
I look forward to the school and will sign up as a reader now
so hopefully I will be eligible Thanks

I wonder, not that I know what they are, how your former blogs are doing. Have you checked up on them? I wonder how such a large subscriber base reacts to a new blog owner – or if they even know!

Crap son! lol. Safe to say you know a little something about blogging good sir. That is a job well done, 4 years is a mighty long time too.

I’m glad you shared your story though…I know many think blogging is a way to quick riches…your story proves that if you build up the asset it can definitely pay off for you in the long run.

Actually, I think it’s great just the way it is! I think you have catchy name, so I’d definitely lead off with it. And I like the tagline as it is because it tells me exactly what you’re all about. I love reading your stuff! It’s all good right down to the colors and layout. Best wishes.
