Keyword Search Engine Ranking

by Franklin Bishop on October 24, 2008

Many people take the time to manually find where their blog’s keywords are ranked on Google and other search engines. This can become very time-consuming especially if you look up every single keyword for your blog. However, there is a simple way to figure this out that will save you a great amount of time.

The other day I came across a couple of web sites that help you monitor where your blog is ranked for your keywords. On the Position Finder Tool you just use the web site and type in the information it asks for. It will reload the page and show you where your blog is ranked for each keyword.

I do like the Free Monitor for Google software the best. The reason why is because it saves all the information you input. I try to be as productive as possible when I am doing things related to blogging. So not having to type my keywords and blog URL saves me time. I just open up the program and I’m able to search right away.

Saving time by using tools like these makes us more productive bloggers. Tools like these can also let you know what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong. If you are ranking higher on a keyword one week and then take a plunge the next week, then you know to go and correct any changes you have made.

Thanks for dropping links to both of those. I’ve been meaning to find some tool for just that.

Btw, I got the lightbox popup and it positioned itself such that I had to refresh the page to do anything. The close, if there was one, was hidden from view because it appeared that I only got the top half of the lightbox thingy. :)

Don’t mean to drop issues, but I though you might want to know.

Cheers!

I think Shoemoney had a pretty nice tool that does this for you. It showed what position you are for whatever keyword on various search engines and it instantly finds it for you.

But then again, you can do it manually especially if you are targeting a specific keyword. :D

Franklin,

These tools can be useful, but are typically are not as accurate as manually checking rankings. I try to use both automated and manual assessments with SERP results as it helps to reduce errors. And as long as you’re not just looking to see if a site or page has been indexed, there are only so many results on the front end to check before it becomes irrelevant. Manual checking is a little tedious but a lot more precise.

Yeah, but it takes a long time to manually check every single keyword. I mean if you really want the exact spot you are then you should check it manually.
