Would you like to promote your blog while making relationships? Would he like to get more traffic to your blog? Would you like to create a blog where it feels like community because everyone is blogging? Well if your answer is yes then you need to be on Twitter because it is where the parties at.
Be a Somebody
Ben Walker has a video out called You’re No One If You’re Not on Twitter. And he is exactly right. And I know as a blogger you do not want to continue to be a nobody. So if you’re asking yourself why does it matter and finally somebody on Twitter?
Twitter Has Millions of Users
Well, there are thousands and thousands of users on Twitter. Never mind that, I mean millions and millions of users on Twitter. Over at Mashable, Adam Ostrow wrote a blog post about how Twitter Is Growing like Crazy: Up 422% in 12 Months. Twitter recorded 2.3 million unique visitors in the month of August. That should be persuasive enough to make you want to become part of Twitter. (Millions of users ready to come to your blog)
Show Your Genuine
With that many unique visits on Twitter, you should know that there are people on their that would be willing to read your blog. Over at Confessions of a Photographer, he explains how he is joined Twitter even though he has his reservations about what it could do for him. Even though he still isn’t convinced that it has any really use, he considers it fun. If you are having fun on a web site like Twitter, then you’re on the right track because that is when you’re going to be the most genuine. And from what I have learned over the years, people that read blogs like is author is genuine. (You will already be on the right track)
If you are one of those people that likes to use little expressions to have fun on instant messaging, then you can have fun on Twitter with Twitter Keys: Enhance Your Twitter Conversations. It’ll be just another way to make you more genuine. You don’t want to go on Twitter or a similar site looking like a robot.
So How Does Twitter Get Me Traffic Though?
Well, you have millions of users so you have to get them to come to your Twitter page. Most users on Twitter are extremists when it comes to Twitter itself. What I mean by this, is that these users use Twitter two to three hours everyday.
Make sure to add a picture to build credibility. It seems a little creepy if you have no picture at all. It is hard for anyone to really feel like they can trust you.
Add your blog URL so that when people come to your Twitter page they have the choice to also view your URL. Trust me, they will visit your URL because I consistently check my blog traffic every morning and night and Twitter is one of the main spots where traffic comes from.
Go ahead and start to follow people on Twitter. It is easiest if you can find someone that has a blog like you so you can follow its followers. You can only add up to 2000 people to follow and if you do that Twitter still might consider you a spammer like Balkhis (He is not much of a spammer though). So make sure you have just enough people to be able to respond to on Twitter (Respond to someone by clicking the little arrow by the Twitter).
You want to get people following you also so that you can update everyone when you have a new post on your blog. You can update your blog on Twitter with a WordPress plug-in. To get people to follow you so that they get your twits, then go to the everyone tab once you have logged in. Many people check to see if anyone replies to their twits, so make sure to respond to other people’s twits and you will likely get them to check out your Twitter page. Like I stated above, if they go to your Twitter page they will likely check out your blog. If not, they might follow you so they can see all of your twits.
And of course, you can always let everyone know on your blog that they can follow you on Twitter. People that come to her blog could possibly check out your Twitter page and be persuaded that you are genuine. Blog readers ike people who are genuine.
If you’re just sitting around a home why not get on Twitter and build relationships. Become an actual person on the Internet and not another robot. Twitter is where the parties at!

Man, I’m crazy about twitter. I travel alot, and it is a great way to keep my friends and family up to date on where I am in the world and what is going on. Great idea to use it to capture blog traffic. I’m going to give it a shot.
I was also skeptical of how useful twitter could be. Now I use it everyday and have built a small following. I have a link to my twitter page at the end of every post along with the RSS and people click the twitter more often than the RSS link. It really is a great tool for bloggers. I also use Twhirl, which is an instant messaging like program that runs on your desktop and alerts you when you have new tweets. You can also write tweets or reply directly in the program – no need to be constantly checking your page.
Is pretty fun though isn’t it? I hear people all the time tell me how much fun it is. I think I will really enjoy being part of it as there is a wide range of people on there.
Yes Twitter for sure “Where it’s at Right now”, but how long will this little twitter bubble last? Do you really think it will be the next twitter? It always seems that we are wanting more…first it was cell phones, than it was email, and wait…now it’s IM. And Than you have myspace, but wait now it’s Twitter!
My question is this just another dying fade or is twitter really going to stick and if so how long?
Another thing while I am at it, that the US is and was so far behind on the whole texting I have still yet to understand this. I mean Europe and Asia have been texting for years before it even half way has caught on here in the America.

I just got started on Twitter and it seems like a good place to make relationships like Franklin said. It’ll be interesting to hear how many people actually get traffic from Twitter. Can’t wait to hear more.
I’m probably one of the few people who hasn’t jumped on the twitter bandwagon. I don’t knoy why but I just can’t really get it into it, I’d rather do something else

I tried to find you on twitter. What is your username for the service? Do you keep a seperate twitter account for personal stuff as compared to when you are trying to market your blog?
I’m going that route!
I think I definately will start using twitter more now. You have convinced me…thankyou
2.3 Million uniques is some traffic I want to get my hands on. At the moment I am getting about 150-200 unqiues per day. Nothing special but way better than last month where it was just 50 uniques per day. It could be my top commentor competition where you can win $50?
Not as good as your where you can win $200 (which I will win) but still pretty cool
Hey Franklin, how do i find you on twitter? I can’t find any links to your profile.
Also, I was looking at your about page and was wondering if you have some weird growth or something on your chin because it is cut off in the photo.
i might have to give twitter a try now.

You should really try it out. It is actually a lot of fun even if you are not getting a lot of traffic to your blog. You can at least make a lot of relationships that could help group blogging career down the road.
Twitter scares me because it can be such a time sucker. I keep procrastinating setting it up because I conveniently never have the time. WEll, actually, I do have a pretty busy schedule, so that’s not completely true. I know a lot of bloggers on Twitter, and they seem to like it, but it just seems to consume their days. Any tips for keeping Twitter in a cage?

I love Twitter too. I don’t post links often, but when I do I always get a nice response. I’ve posted links to my blog, my books and my Squidoo lenses, and it really does bring visitors – and sales!
Great post – thanks for sharing!
I created a Twitter account a while ago… but I haven’t done anything with it. Maybe I’ll go see what it can do for my pathetic traffic income…
Sounds good! I’m definitely going to have to check out Twitter. Not like I have a lot of time to spare but if it gets me the results I want then I guess it will be worth it. I guess I’m going to have to work on getting a decent picture together now!
