Unique Blog Design

If you’ve been wondering where I have been, don’t wonder anymore. I have recently gone through a redesign for this blog and it’s my own unique blog design. I wanted to go to a simple format and try to make it a little more personal. I think I did a good job making it a little more personal by using an image and a little about me in the sidebar.

I think it is also a very simple and clean design. I have talked before how a redesign can help your blog. I know many people might think it is a little boring but I was trying to go in that direction. I didn’t want any bright colors or anything like that so I went with greys and white. The main color that I used beside the grays and white is maroon. I decided to go with maroon because it was different than anyother color that I have seen used on blogs. I didn’t want to go with bright red because web designers say that it gives people the feeling of war or blood.

You will also notice that I have added blog sponsors in the right sidebar. For the time being I will take free sponsors for my blog. All you have to do is go to the contact page and send me a link to your 125 x 125 ad. Also include the URL you want to use with it. Might as well take advantage of it now as it will probably be changing somewhere in mid-November.

I have a nice tab widget on my sidebar also. It makes it easier for people to find what they’re looking for so that they do not have to keep scrolling down the page. I can fit three widgets in it which saves me space.

The comments section is one of the things I’m most proud of when it comes to the new blog design. I tried to make it very simple without making it look messy. I have gone to many blogs that have a really messy comments section and you will notice people get less comments because of that. My comment section was very messy on my last blog design. So I hope you like this one.

You can see at the bottom I have added things that I recommend, where you can find me, and Blogging School. I decided to put it at the bottom because it feels like it is a little intrusive if it is put right at the top where people see it right away.

So I’m happy with the blog design considering that I wanted something simple and not with a lot a color. I know some of you will hate it but it was time to get a design that is completely different from the other ones. If you find any problems just let me know and I will try to fix them right away.

@Your Friendly Neighborhood Computer Guy Thanks a lot. It took a while to get this one created but I think I did a pretty good job. I do believe that clean designs are the way to go anymore. I know I had a very simple design on one of my other blogs and people absolutely loved it because everything was easy to find and didn’t seem so cluttered. Again, thanks a lot.

I can’t say that this design is something great and beautiful, but it is clean and nice design, better then before.
So good job.

@Whateverebay I’m glad you like it. I still have some little things to do to make it complete but I am satisfied with this design so far.

@Shoto Azikuri I was looking to create a clean and nice design so I’m glad you mentioned that. Thanks a lot for the support. I am happy that my design is not beautiful, haha.

Great redesign, I like the simple colors and cleanliness. I too have to make my comments section neater :D

The “Recommended” & “Find me on” is a great touch!

Thanks. I definitely went for a simple colors. People seem to turn away from the bright colors these days. I hope that many people make their comments section neater because it definitely makes people want to comment more. I am overjoyed that you liked the redesign.

Hi Franklin, I love your new design! It is very similar to what I envision having when I redesign. I love it’s clean, simple look. I especially love it’s colors. One may think that a lot of fancy colors will draw attention, but often it is just the opposite. A lot of fancy colors in a blog could just be irritating and turn others off. That is why this new blog design is much better.
I also love the tabs at the top. They are a way that people can clearly, quickly and easily ascertain information about you.
I like your subscribe section because it is very clear, which is good because there are newcomers who are just beginning to read blogs, and this makes it easy for them to know how to prescribe.
Also, the ad spaces are clean and neat. The comment section is easy to deal with! You and ProBlogger have the best I have ever encountered. And finally, I love your “Find Me On”. Oh, and thanks for the Wordpress Themes, that’s cool!
All around I believe you did a great job!
Krissy :)

Now your comment is what I call a testimonial. I’m so glad that you like it. You’re welcome for the WordPress themes. It is always nice being compared to Problogger also. I think the comments section of your blog is one of the most important things if you are wanting people to reply to your blog post so I definitely tried to make it nice.

I also did try to stay away from the bright colors so I’m glad you brought it up. You’re right when you say that most people think that it will draw attention but it is actually opposite. I think most people are just looking for a clean and easy blog design.

Thanks for letting me know that you like the new blog design Krissy.

congrats on your new design! looks good.
But I still can’t leave comments in Feed Demon. Darn.
I always have to open to your site in a seperate browser window, which means I often don’t due to time. (But sure like to – due to content! :-)

Franklin Bishop October 22, 2008 at 7:59 pm

Thanks a lot. I will try to fix it so that you can comment in your feed reader. I’m glad you brought it up because I did not know that it was not showing up. I am happy you like my content and if you have anything you want me to write about I will.
