6 Wordpress CSS Plugins

by Franklin Bishop on January 4, 2009

Many people want to change CSS. There are many ways to do this and there are Wordpress CSS plugins to help you out. I know that it can be difficult to figure out CSS and how to use it throughout Wordpress. Well, here are some CSS plugins that can help you out with your Wordpress Blog.

Now there are many Wordpress plugins out there so let me know if there are any you think I should add. As long as they have something to do was CSS or HTML I will definitely add them on the list. These are just some of the ones that I have found helpful when using the Wordpress platform.

Wordpress CSS Plugins

WP CSS – This plugin GZIP and strip whitespace from your CSS files. It allows you to confidently use @import inside a CSS file and not worry about what happens on the user’s end. It will look through your style.css file and put any @import files into it. A cache expiry time can also be set.

Raw HTML – This plugin lets you use raw HTML or any other code in your posts. Wrap a part of your post in special tags (below) to prevent WordPress from converting newlines to HTML paragraphs, escaping apostrophes and so on. Very useful if you need to add a CSS block or JavaScript to your post.

Login Style – Login Style lets you restyle your login page with a custom CSS file.

Style Tweaker – You can add CSS to the entire website, regardless of what theme is being used, or add it to just the current theme. You can even add CSS that displays only when you are logged on – very useful when you’re playing with a new look, and it’s not quite ready for public viewing.

WP Post Styling – This plugin simply provides a custom field on your WordPress interface where you can add custom styles to be applied only on that page or post. Useful for being able to publish articles with a unique look.

CSS Cache Buster – CSS Cache Buster does one very simple but very powerful thing: it ensures that your Wordpress blog delivers the very latest version of your CSS stylesheet to your visitors, no matter how often or how rarely your edit for CSS.

I hope some of those CSS plugins can help you. Wordpress is so much to offer and Wordpress plugins have only made it better. These all can change the way your Blog looks and can be used as CSS hacks and Wordpress. Again, let me know if you know of any other Wordpress plugins that can help with CSS.

Hmmm. Not a fan. As for the ‘Raw HTML’ plugin, why not just upgrade to a new WYSIWYG editor like FCKEditor. Then you never have to worry about WP messing with any code.

As for the Cache Buster, how often does anyone update their CSS? For some people CSS files are large, that would result in slower page loads. Don’t we all love caching?

I think I’m going to give one of those “CKEditor”’s a try. Somehow I feel as though I’m missing something.

These look very promising. I’m not that big on web design but I know enough to break things. I’ll have to experiment one of these days. Do you use these on your blog currently?

Wow! I have never heard of CSS plugins for Wordpress. I always just edited the files manually. Very cool. I book marked this post for future reference.
