The question I have to ask you is whether you think you should write for yourself or write for your visitors that come to your blog? Lately I have been finding myself writing blog posts for my readers and visitors more than just myself. You may have a different answer than me but since I have created this blog I have found that just writing for myself can get me more readers and subscribers.
The one thing I know is how to create a successful blog. I have used this blog to experiment so that I may be able to find out things that could help you bloggers. And honestly I found out that just writing for myself gets me a lot farther than writing for my readers and subscribers. It makes me seem more real and people can easily relate to me.
Too many times I we write blog posts to try an satisfy people that come to our blog. What happens is we begin to sound like robots and not human beings. I think it is okay for a news web site to sound like a robot because all they are doing is basically reporting. So for a more personal blog like mine I believe writing for myself will give me more success than if I would write from my readers and subscribers.
I think this is a question that every blogger should ask themselves. I hope people find that writing for themselves is more enjoyable and will later on lead to success. It is pretty hard trying to write for your readers and subscribers all the time. The best way to begin a blog is to just write for yourself and then market it. You should have no problem writing articles because you don’t have to think about anything other than yourself. And if anyone becomes a religious reader or subscriber then you will already not be writing for your readers and subscribers because you started off writing for yourself.

Interesting point. How would your posts be different if not writing for your readers? How many subscribers are you up to now, Franklin?
If it is a lot then there isn’t really any way to write for all of them. might as well stay true to yourself – whatever that means.

I leave it to peoples imagination anymore. I probably will never update people on how many subscribers I have again.
I write with one reader in mind. My wife, my son, my buddy. It makes my voice sharp. I want my readers engaged and entertained, but my words are forever, so the writing needs to be me.

You are one that proves the personal writing works. Writing for yourself does make your voice sharp and people here it loud and clear. Internet users seem to be attracted to people that write personally because they’re more genuine that way.
Franklin,
I think the problem is that usually its the voice of those who comment on a site that get listened to and then that site ultimately suffers for it. i don’t know how many visitors you have, but for the sake of my example, lets say you have 5000 rss readers, now only 20 or so of us will comment on your posts and if you ever listened to us, 20 people will end up determining what 4998 other people will read.
I say stick to writing what you want to write for no other reason than you think its good, if you really do want to know what the majority likes, then chuck a poll on the site and that should be an interesting barometer of the content your audience would like to see.

You are right about the voice of those who comment persuading what kind of information is written about and how it is written on a blog. I think sticking with writing for yourself is the best way to go. Running a poll on my web site could really help me find out what information people are looking for. Most likely people that do not comment will still vote because people will never know who they are.
Depending on how many readers you have, it is quite impossible to write for all of them at once! They became readers because they liked what you had to say in the first place. That means that you already pleased them without even trying to please them.
Yeah, I guess it is difficult to write for all of your readers. Especially since most readers like different kinds of articles and are looking for different kind of information. I guess as long as it is goes with the same topic or niche people should be fine.
Some people they do not like to read but love to watch video instead so you have to be creative and diversify your sources.

Very true. There are many vlogs out there that are really popular. It even makes you seem even more genuine when you do videos because they actually see you instead of just imagining what you really look and act like. Sometimes leaving things to the imagination can do good also though.
I think that writing for yourself is the best bet or at least make sure to include yourself even when writing for your readers. The idea behind blogs in the first place was supposed to be like an online diary. It does get easy though to write for your readers & stop writing for yourself. I have to agree on the readers coming to you when you write from the heart though.

Very true. Like you said, a blog is like an online diary. I just think that we try to satisfy our readers when we should just satisfy ourselves.
To me, just write the best we can – as long as both writer and readers are happy.

Ya you are right. Casual writings will impress others than trying to be formal. Lol.
