I was reading on the Bloggeries forum and came across a thread that asked whether your header should be fancy or simple. What he seemed to mean was if his logo should be fancy or simple. There were a lot of different answers but the main one that most people said was simple.
Simple is okay as long as it is different than everyone else’s. Most themes on WordPress automatically have the title of your blog and then the tagline (look at picture below). There are so many bloggers that keep their header this way. One of the one things that I’ve learned was that you need to brand your blog.

Most logos on web sites are simple anymore. You know if other web sites are having simple logos with success then it must be working. Look at Paypal, Dosh Dosh, eBay, Problogger, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, Myspace, and many more. They all have simple logos but they all come in different fonts and sizes. So you can still remember them by their logo even though they are not too fancy.
You can find all different fonts for free all over the Internet. Then with a little Photoshop work you can turn the font into your own. Like I say, if you do not know how to do this I can help you out. I can also help you turn the default header in WordPress or blogger so that it is your logo. I know many of you already know how to do this but we cannot forget about the beginners.
The reason why you shouldn’t want a fancy logo is because it can distract from what your blog is actually about. What you want people to do is read your content. So the sooner they can get to your content the better. One of the blogs that amazes me to this day is Digital Inspiration. It is so simple but yet there is over 10,000 subscribers.
One other thing to consider, when you do make your simple logo try not to make the font too big. Like I said above you want them to read your content and as soon as possible. People only stay on a web site for 10 seconds before they make a decision whether they are going to stay or not. You want them to read your content as soon as possible so having a simple logo will shrink your header so that they begin reading your blog posts. Getting people to start reading your content will at least get them to stay at your blog.

wow its an interesting posting bro.thank you
I think simple is the best way to go. But, you know what logo that I believe is one of the best is the every changing Google logo. While it’s just so simple, but they always and continue to put themes within there simple logo and I just love that! Anyone else ever thought about doing that is that just to much work, time, effect, and money?

Google is an excellent example. After 10 years their home page is still one of the most simple home pages on the web: A logo, a search box, and a few links. The CEO recently stated that they could bring in billions of more dollars by placing advertising on their front page – but they don’t – because they respect the user experience and understand that people respect the streamlined page and don’t like to see a lot of clutter.
If you can strike that balance between excessive clutter and too much simplicity, then you got it made. (Yes – you can be too simple by making it too hard for people to find what they are looking for)
I haven’t got a logo for my blog yet. Truthfully this is because I cannot afford it yet but my visitors are starting to skyrocket and therefore I am starting to make more money from my blog. I also have other sources of income as well which will start making me a lot more money soon. So once I have enough I will create my own header. Great post and really interesting
I believe it is very important to have our own logos just because it makes you different from everyone else. People remember you by what your logo is where your tag line so we all need to make sure that we have good ones. I have been trying to think a a good logo for my new blog I am creating but I might have you help me out.
I had never given this much thought – but then I came across a log that was a google lookalike logo – and the importance of branding was staring me right in the face (so to speak).
Simple has always been good – i hate the clutter some sites have and avoid them.

I completely agree with you. Some web sites has so much clutter and are so disorganized that they actually scare visitors away.
